Mechanics of Materials and Exercise (3 Credits)
This course teaches the theory for analyzing behaviors, such as stress, strain and buckling, of various structure-applied loads. Students on this course are expected to gain the ability to put into practice decisions to be made on materials, the determination of shapes and dimensions on designing structures, and to improve the ability to solve the problems in this branch of mechanics of materials, by conducting controlled-experiments on such problems.
Hydraulics and Lab (3 Credits)
This course teaches the theories on the physical characteristics of water, hydrostatics, and hydrodynamics. Students are expected to improve the application ability of hydrodynamics in pipes and open channels. Experiments are conducted to learn the hydraulic knowledge on the planning, designing and managing of water resources and to understand the characteristics of such knowledge.
Introduction to Rural Construction Engineering (3 Credits)
This course is optional for students entering rural construction engineering but is encouraged for freshmen wanting to learn about the breadth of the discipline. Students choosing to take this course will be introduced to rural construction engineering, including department programs and areas of specialty, rural construction engineering career options, professionalism, history, and ethics.
Engineering Mathematics and Exercises (3 Credits)
This course teaches the basic knowledge on linear and first transformations, and eigenvalues related to modeling and linear algebra for understanding relationships and physical laws necessary for engineering. Students in this engineering course are expected to improve their inquisitive capacities by improving their mathematical thinking. For the purpose of this improvement, ordinary differential equations, systems of differential equations, matrixes and eigenvalues, and vectors and vector functions are discussed.
CAD and Practice (3 Credits)
The aim of this course is the improvement of student's ability on Computer-Aided Design for producing civil engineering drawing and for understanding them. For the purpose of this aim, students on this course learn the rules for producing civil engineering drawings, the application of related computer software and understanding the skill of drawing.
Computer Programming and Practice (3 Credits)
Computer programming is the process of writing, testing, debugging / troubleshooting, and maintaining the source code of computer programs. This source code is written in a programming language. The code may be a modification of an existing source or something completely new. The purpose of programming is to create a program that exhibits a certain desired behaviour (customization).
Materials for Construction Engineering and Lab (3 Credits)
This course covers common construction engineering materials: aggregates, inorganic cements, asphalts, concretes, wood, and steel. Composition, structure, physical and mechanical properties, tests, and production mix designs are also covered.
Analysis of Statically Indeterminate Structures (3 Credits)
Student in this course learn the theories of analyzing indeterminate structures such as the slope deflection method, the moment distribution method, and practice the methods involved in solving related problem. Students are expected to improve their application ability for analyzing and designing the indeterminate structures constructed frequently in the business field.
Water Supply and Sewer Engineering (3 Credits)
Students in this course are expected to understand the knowledge on water supply and sewage, expected to be capable of designing and constructing the facilities related to water supply and sewage, expected to understand the causes and mechanisms of water pollution, and expected to improve the ability necessary to establish countermeasures against water pollution. Especially, students study the causes of and countermeasures against non point source pollution in rural areas.
Foundation Engineering and Design (3 Credits)
Students in this course study the application methods necessary to design the various kinds of foundation structures for transmitting the load applied to upper structures to the supporting ground, and learn the ground improvement methods and application theories on soft ground inadequate as supporting ground.
Applied Surveying and Practice (3 Credits)
Generic terms for a survey conducted for the purpose of recording the geological significant features of the area under investigation. Applied surveying is composed of various practical surveying like constructional surveying.
Reinforced Concrete Engineering and Design II (3 Credits)
Advanced analysis and designs of reinforced concrete columns, beams, slabs, bridge and footings is studied.
Hydraulic Structures Engineering and Practice (3 Credits)
This course teaches the theories applied to the design, the construction and the management of facilities such as dams, weirs and irrigation and drainage canals related to irrigation and drainage, and the reclamation of farmland.
Farmland Engineering (3 Credits)
Students on this course learn the knowledge necessary for the reclamation of farmland, the soil conservation of farmland, and the improvement of farmland, for the purposes of improving life quality in rural areas, for developing agricultural infrastructures aimed at the high productivity of land, the high productivity of labor, and high conservatory properties, and of securing farmland by engaging in scientific farming in well developed rural areas.
Urban Planning (3 Credits)
Urban, city, and town planning is the integration of the disciplines of land use planning and transport planning, so as to explore a very wide range of aspects of built-up and social environments of urbanized municipalities and communities. Regional planning deals within a still larger environment, is covered at a less detailed level.
Soil Mechanics and Lab (3 Credits)
This course teaches the basic theories for understanding the engineering characteristics of soil which are used directly as construction materials in practical cases such as roads and dams, which are used as foundation materials supporting buildings and bridges and which form slopes or embankments accompanying main construction.
Surveying and Practice (3 Credits)
Surveying is the technique and science of accurately determining the terrestrial or three-dimensional space position of points and the distances and angles between them. These points are usually on the surface of the Earth, and are often used to establish land maps and boundaries for ownership or governmental purposes. In order to accomplish their objective, surveyors use elements of geometry, engineering, trigonometry, mathematics, physics, and law.
Reinforced Concrete Engineering and Design I (3 Credits)
Analysis and design of reinforced concrete flexural members and systems is studied.
Civil Engineering Construction and Exercises (3 Credits)
This course teaches methods of earthwork, construction machinery, the foundation of construction, the construction of retaining walls, reinforced concrete construction, the excavation of rocks, the construction of tunnels, the construction of roads, the construction of bridges, and also teaches about special branches in the construction of dams, drainage facilities, and port facilities. Students in this course are expected to gain the general knowledge of time scheduling and project management necessary for construction.
Bio-Industry and Machinery (3 Credits)
This course teaches the knowledge on engineering basic theory necessary to production, storage, and processing of food resources, and on mostly mechanical engineering, environmental engineering, electrical engineering, and electronic engineering. Students on this course are expected to understand the automation, information orientation, and green technology for the continuous security of high quality food resources.
Statics (3 Credits)
Students on this course learn the basic principles on the equilibriums of loaded bodies, and they improve their application capacity to solve engineering problems such as the analysis of various kinds of structures. Also students improve their problem solving capacity as regards statics through the practice in a log of example problems.
Structural Analysis and Exercise (3 Credits)
Students on this course learn the theories on structural analysis of various kinds of structures and engage in solving practice problems. Students improve their ability of application in analyzing and designing structures such as reinforced concrete structures and steel structures.
Hydrology and Practice (3 Credits)
Students in this course study the principles and the theories on the circulation of water, and are expected to improve their application ability on design and management related to water utilization and flood control of facilities such as dams, rivers and sewers, through the theoretical study and statistical processing of most sorts of phenomena occurring in the process of water circulation.
Irrigation and Drainage Engineering and Practice (3 Credits)
This course teaches the theories for improving productivities of agriculture and labor by supplying water necessary for crop growing and draining humidity oversupply. Students on this course practice the actual methods applicable to agricultural engineering business.
Road Engineering (3 Credits)
This course teaches the practical engineering methods and theories capable of maintenance, management, and improvement of roads as a basis for district development.
Geographic Information Engineering and Practice (3 Credits)
A geographic information system (GIS) captures, stores, analyzes, manages, and presents data that is linked to location. Technically, GIS is geographic information systems which include mapping software and its application with remote sensing, land surveying, aerial photography, mathematics, photo-grammetry, geography, and tools that can be implemented with GIS software. Still, many refer to "geographic information system" as GIS even though it doesn't cover all tools connected to topology.
Pre-stressed Concrete Structures Design (3 Credits)
Design and analysis of concrete structures utilizing pre- and post-tensioned concrete elements
Agricultural Structures Engineering (3 Credits)
Analysis, design, construction and operating methods of agricultural structures engineering is studied.
Civil Engineering Design and Practice (3 Credits)
This course teaches the principle theory for designing safely, economically, effectively and aesthetically various kinds of structures. Students on this course are expected to improve students' ability to design various kinds of structures through design practice after learning design concepts and methods.
Region Environmental Engineering (3 Credits)
This course teaches the concepts and the theories for conserving and maintaining healthy ecological environments based on soil, water and air in rural communities and agriculture.
Rural Planning and Design (3 Credits)
Rural planning is the study of planning, organizing, directing, and controlling of co-operatives, agri-business and allied fields. It merges the knowledge of management studies and applies it in the rural context. Most of the courses are designed in such a way that the concepts taught in the class are applied to real life through training in the rural areas through case-studies and interaction with rural people.
